Today in History: In 1836, Texians were defeated at The Alamo after a 13-day siege by Mexican forces. This battle, in an attempt by Texians to gain independence from Mexico, was famous in American culture for it’s hero Davy Crockett (pictured above). He, along with 258 others were killed in the attack. Texians would eventually defeat Mexican forces on April 21 and declare their independence.
